General RS Broadcast....

This Saturday I had the opportunity to have a break from the kids for a few hours. I was able to go to dinner to yummy Tokyo Joes with some friends and then headed off to the RS General Broadcast. It was such a great broadcast. I felt so enriched. I really enjoyed President Uchtorf's talk. I felt like he was specifically talking to me. He talked about how we as women can be so hard on ourselves. I know that is me to a "t". So often I do something and I will find one thing wrong with something that I did when the rest of what I did was just fine. I also liked what he said about talents. This is what he said..."For we all have talents and gifts, every one of us. The bounds of creativity extends far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush a pen or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before; colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter." I just love that because I have thought so much that I wish I had talents to "show", such as something I made. It was so enlightening to hear that my talents may lie somewhere else and maybe not even something that can be seen. I need to remember his quote when I get down about myself. So I just loved his talk. I am glad I went and I am so thankful for a wonderful husband who understands I need breaks sometimes and is so good to let me have them. I am grateful for friends who can take me away from normal life and just hang out and talk about things. Thanks girls!

i can be a dang good copier....

i am not creative by any means, so i have to look to others for ideas. my sister, jana, is really good at decorating and i got an idea from her with a window frame that i have. here is a picture of the one i put on my wall....

so it was pretty easy. i got the window for 4 bucks and then painted the wall behind it a different color. then i stuck the quote on the wall. pretty simple.
speaking of doing crafts, my friend, Erika, is doing a blog just for crafts and stuff. if you would like to check it out, go here....http://www.itsashabbything.blogspot.com/

Another day....

Logan started preschool last week. He was so excited about it and I am so glad he is with Ms. Tara again. I had the opportunity to work with her last year and she is a great teacher. Logan really likes her too. My friend Tammy, who's daughter is in the same class, wrote about the first homework project they had and I wanted to do the same. The project was called "All About Me". Here are the things Logan said about himself...

favorite food--egg sandwiches and chocolate milk

favorite color--is orange

favorite place--the cabin

when he grows up, he wants to be an astronaut

favorite thing to do--go snowmobiling

if he had one wish it would be to ride a train all by himself

Just wanted to put them in to remember in the future what he liked at this time in his life.

Logan had a soccer game on Saturday and he scored his first real goal. He was at about half court (or whatever they call it) and then ran all the way to score a goal. He did a great job.

Parker was blessed on Sunday. It was so nice to have friends and family there for the blessing. We are lucky to have both our families in town-except for one brother in Utah and another sister in Alaska. I am so thankful I have a worthy husband to bless our children. Our nephew was born 9 days after Parker, so he was blessed on Sunday as well. It will be so fun for Parker to have a cousin so close in age. The blanket in the picture is one my friend Kim made from my wedding dress. I love it and think it so special.

Well the update on Jon is that he is going to start working for my dad. My dad has an auto mechanics shop in Golden. Jon is really excited to learn more about cars. He aslo has decided-and has always wanted to-become a firefighter. He has been looking into it and found out he cannot apply until February when they take applications next. Today he did a ride along with one fire department and LOVED it. He was lucky enough that they had to go out 13 times while he was there. He called during the day and said we could come down and see the firestation if we wanted. So I took the kids down. Logan was a bit apprehensive at first and then warmed up and was loving the firetrucks. Kylie was pretty scared of them. It was so fun to see Jon so excited about a career. I guess there are a lot of people that apply to be a firefighter, so it can be hard to get on.

Kylie is doing well. Yesterday she fell out of the Yukon and bonked her head on the cement pretty good. She had a huge goose egg. She was pretty tired right after, but I think she is doing ok today.
